St. Thecla Retreat House is located on Dudley Road in Billerica, Massachusetts. It is owned by the Daughters of St. Paul, a Catholic religious congregation. The retreat house sits on 134 acres of woodlands near the Concord River, and is primarily used for groups looking for rest and relaxation. The retreat house, and the street it’s located on, is the source of many ghost stories, despite campaigns to dispel them. It is said that, back in the 19th century, nuns were hung in a nearby field on the charge of witchcraft. A house on the property, which still stands, is said to be the site where the witchcraft happened, and where various haunted activity is said to currently take place. Other stories include a number of suicides in the area, with sightings of nuns on the street as well as hanging from trees near the retreat house.
