Bucktrout Funeral Home and Crematory, also known as “Bucktrout of Williamsburg,” located in Williamsburg, Virginia, is the oldest funeral home in the United States. Founded in 1759, the company originally started as a cabinet maker, making wooden caskets for friends and neighbors. They also offered burials on their six (6)-acre farm. The business eventually transitioned into a funeral home, providing both cabinetry and funerary services to the state of Virginia. The business has changed hands numerous times, but has never ceased operations since their 1759 opening.
