Loughcrew Megalithic Cairns is located in County Meath, Ireland. It is here where the oldest eclipse may have been recorded on Nov. 30, 3340 B.C.E. Spiral-shaped and circular rock carvings, called petroglyphs, were found at Loughcrew. Immediately in front of the carving, archaeologists found the charred remains of approximately fifty (50) individuals, some speculating that a sacrifice took place during the eclipse event. Scholars, such as archaeoastronomer Paul Griffin, continue to research the area and meaning of the petroglyphs.
